Donation & Refund Policy

1. Your gift

Donations to the Sophiana Foundation are voluntary and support our programs for orphaned children and elders in Uganda. Unless you choose a specific project, your gift is used where it is needed most.

2. How donations are processed

Donations are processed securely by PCI-compliant third-party payment providers. We never store your full card details. You’ll receive an email confirmation and receipt for every gift.

3. One-time & recurring gifts

You can give once or set up a recurring (monthly) gift. Recurring gifts continue until you cancel them.

4. Managing or cancelling a recurring gift

You can change or cancel a recurring donation at any time — no questions asked — using the link in your receipt, or by emailing hello@sophianafoundation.com. Cancellation stops future charges; it does not refund past gifts.

5. Refunds

Because donations fund charitable work, they are generally non-refundable. However, if you made an error (e.g. a duplicate or incorrect amount), contact us within 14 days at hello@sophianafoundation.com and we will review and, where appropriate, refund it to the original payment method.

6. Tax receipts & deductibility

The Sophiana Foundation is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code (EIN 42-3863047), registered in Washington State (UBI 606 232 613). Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We issue an official receipt for every gift, stating that no goods or services were provided in exchange — please keep it for your records and consult a tax advisor about your specific situation.

7. How funds are used

We are committed to directing your gift to programs — meals, education, healthcare, and housing. If a specific project is already fully funded or cannot proceed, we may redirect your gift to a similar area of greatest need, always in line with our charitable mission.
